Restoration Services

There are several different restoration services I offer, not just polishing. Some services will be carried out by different craftsmen, however all services will be organised and fully managed by myself.

**Please note that I only work on traditionally made Nihonto**

 

Sword Appraisal & Valuation: Determine what the sword is, it’s value & whether it’s worth restoring.

In person – $100 – $150 (Depending on distance I travel / research hours)

 

Sword Polish: Polishing costs will be determined case by case, based on the condition, size and style of blade. Below is a rough guide to give some idea.

– Katana: $2800 – $3800

– Wakizashi: $2000 – $2800

– Tanto: $1500 – $2000

– Window: $250 (Includes appraisal & valuation)

 

Habaki: (solid, one piece construction, various styles available)

– Copper: $350 – $450

– Silver: $450 – $550

– Shibuichi: $450 – $550

– Shakudo: $450 – $550

If gold foil or two piece habaki are wanted they can also be arranged but currently the work would have to be done overseas and price is on request.

 

Shirasaya:

– Katana: $500 – $600

– Wakizashi: $400 – $550

– Tanto: $350 – $450

– Horn inlays are an extra $150 – $200 on any of the above

– Tsunagi: $90 – $150

 

Tsukamaki: Price on request

Koshirae / Lacquer Repair: Price on request

Agent: I can also act as an agent to secure specific and rare items using my contacts in Japan. Price on request
